How Does It Work? In
simple terms, an engine's ability to make power is directly proportionate
to the amount of air and fuel that can be brought into the combustion
chamber. Putting more fuel in is easy. It's like opening
a faucet. On the other hand, getting extra air into the chamber
is a more difficult matter, since it's essentially "drawn" in.
The Magna Charger supercharger increases the displacement or "blows"
more air into the engine. This is called "forced induction,"
and it's widely used in racing, aviation and industry to extract
maximum power from internal combustion engines. You get the
fuel economy of a smaller engine, with the power and horsepower
of a larger, stronger engine.
What's Best For Racing Isn't Necessarily
Best For The Street. A racing engine is designed to provide
peak performance for a certain period of time. In drag racing
it's a matter of seconds. For oval track racing, it can be
500 miles. That's nothing compared to the 100,000 plus miles
that's expected of a street driven vehicle. Magna Charger's
primary criteria is to manufacture systems that produce a high specific
power output for long-term highway use without engine damage or
